This comes as a late entry but lemme share the story of St Valentine wit you :)In AD 269 St Valentine was martyred. Valentine was a crusader for true love, so it is only fitting that he is the patron saint of lovers. Roman emperor Claudius was actively trying to recruit men to join his army. But no one wanted to go to war; they wanted to stay at home with their wives, families and sweethearts. Claudius banned weddings - his 'logic' being that if they could no longer get married they'd sign up and march off to fight for him. As if. He couldn't have been more wrong and there was huge opposition, including that from Valentine, the priest. Our hero started secretly marrying couples. Claudius found out, went ballistic and condemned the romantic priest to be beaten to death.Legend goes he left a farewell note to the jailer's daughter, who he had not only befriended but had also cured from blindness, signed simply 'From Your Valentine'.To honour his memory in AD 496, Pope Gelasius set aside this date for romance and ever since then the cards, flowers, chocolates & declarations have been flying faster than Cupid's arrow.Interesting? Haha, all credits goes to the book A YEAR IN HIGH HEELS, which i'm currently reading :)It's a book that not only writes about all the different kinds of footwear like court shoes/boots/wedges/stiletto/ballet shoes/trainers...etc, it also writes on the HOW TOs...like 'how to learn a language', 'how to wear red', 'how to make an impression', and other things that really doesnt concern us like 'how to do the red carpet', 'how to moonwalk the michael jackson way'....hahaha! & of course, it guides us thru' the year with events happening around the world, one of which is the above mentioned Vday. & finally, it also have the muse of the month, where people like marilyn monroe, cleopatra, coco chanel, elizabeth arden and blah blah...are being discussed. Cool huh! LOLso here you go!Ps. Entries on vday & onwards will take awhile for me to update! cheers!
